STRIKERS RULES OF PLAY

STRIKERS SOCCER CENTER RULES & POLICIES


General Facility Rules

  • Liability: Participants assume all risks related to injury or accidents. The facility is not liable for any losses.

  • Lost & Found: Report lost items immediately. The facility is not responsible for lost items.

  • Prohibited Items:

    • No metal cleats, food, drinks, chewing tobacco, vapes, illegal substances, or chewing gum on the playing surface.

    • No glass containers or animals on the field.

  • Jewelry: Players cannot wear chains, bracelets, or earrings. Rings must be removed or taped.

  • Safety: All play must follow the Laws of the Game as modified by Strikers Soccer Center.

  • Right to Refuse Service: The facility reserves the right to refuse play or service to anyone.


Player & Team Requirements

  • Liability Waiver: All participants must complete and sign a Liability/Injury Waiver form before playing.

  • Player Rosters: Submit rosters before the first league game (Adult Leagues). Any changes must be approved by Strikers. Youth rosters are created and adjusted by Strikers not by coaches or parents.

  • Equipment:

    • Teams must wear matching colored jerseys. For youth leagues, jerseys are assigned by Strikers.

    • Flat-soled shoes or molded cleats are mandatory. As long as the soccer cleats are not metal or screw-ins.

    • Shin guards are recommended and must be covered by socks. 


Referees & Officials

  • Authority: Referees have full authority. Their decisions are final.

  • Do not address referees immediately after the game. If needed, speak to staff in office.


Game & League Information

  • Game Balls: We provide the referee with a game ball.

  • Game Time & Schedule:

    • Game times are assigned based on divisions & age groups.

    • The facility may adjust schedules based on holidays and session length.

    • Recognized holidays: New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas.

  • Makeup Games: Games will be made up if cancelled by Strikers due to storms.


Fouls & Misconduct

  • Red Card Policy:

    • Automatic Suspension: Red-carded players are suspended for the next game.

    • Foul Language: Red card for foul or abusive language results in a suspension.

    • Violent Conduct: Includes spitting, threatening, and rough play; may lead to further disciplinary action.

    • Assaulting an Official: Immediate suspension from all activities.

    • Repeat Offenders: Players with 3 red cards in a year face further disciplinary action.

  • Fighting: Zero tolerance policy. Anyone involved in fighting or threatening behavior will be ejected and reported to authorities.


Substitutions

  • Unlimited Substitutions: Allowed during stoppages in play (e.g., after a goal, injury timeout, or when the ball leaves the field).

  • Player Exiting: The player being substituted must leave the field before a new player enters.

  • Extra Player Rule: Teams trailing by 5+ goals may add a 6th player until the deficit is reduced to 3 goals. 10+ goals add a 7th player.


No-Shows

  • No-Shows: The opposing team is awarded a 3-0 victory. No reschedules allowed.


Game Duration & Scoring

  • Game Duration: Two halves of 25 minutes, with a 5-minute halftime.

  • Goal Scoring: A goal is scored when the whole ball crosses the goal line under the crossbar, without interference from a hand or arm (except by the goalkeeper within their own penalty area).

  • Tie Games:

    • In tournaments, ties are settled by a best of 3 PK Shootout, then sudden death PKs.


Laws of the Game

  1. Fields: Small Fields- 5v5 or 6v6. Big Field- 7v7 or 8v8.

  2. Ball Size:

    • Size 5: 12+

    • Size 4: 6-11s

    • Size 3: 4-5s

  3. Number of Players:

    • Teams consist of 5 players (4 field players + 1 goalkeeper).

    • Minimum of 4 players needed to start a game.

  4. Kickoff:

    • Coin toss decides the first kickoff. Teams change direction at halftime.

    • Goals cannot be scored directly from a kickoff.

  5. Fouls: Direct free kicks for major offenses (e.g., tripping, charging, striking). Indirect free kicks for intentional headers or dangerous play like high-kicks or obstruction.

  6. Goalkeeper Rules:

    • Must release the ball within 5 seconds.

    • Cannot play the ball again until another player touches it.

    • Cannot play the ball to the same player who passed it to him/her.

  7. Headers: 
  • Ages 4-11: No Headers Allowed. Indirect free kick given.
  • Ages 12+: Headers Allowed.

Restarts & Special Situations

  • Free Kicks: Opposing players must be 5 paces away.

  • Penalty Kicks: Taken from the penalty spot or further back based on age group. All other players behind half way line except goalie & PK taker.

  • Kick-Ins: Indirect free kicks awarded when the ball goes out of bounds via the netting.

  • Corner Kicks: Direct free kick awarded when the ball hit the black nets behind the goal, last touched by the defending team.

  • Goalkeeper Kick: Indirect free kick awarded when the ball hit the black nets behind the goal, last touched by the attacking team.


First Aid

  • First-Aid Kits: The facility has a limited kit & defibrillator.
